Jonathan Dale "Johnny Dale" Johnston, 69, of Alma, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024 in Fort Smith. He was born July 21, 1954 in Mulberry. In his younger years he was known for his bull riding and overall love for the rodeo. He was a longtime over-the-road truck driver and in construction of many building projects in our local area. His known acts in life were being the most wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. In his life, he represented an exemplary amount of kindness to everyone. He would help anyone every chance he could. His family will miss him, but they are glad he is no longer in pain and is now in the care of our precious Lord that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Betty Johnston; a sister, Jeanie; and a brother, Larry.
He is survived by two sons, Cody Johnston, and Trent Johnston and wife Ribbon – his boys were some of his greatest accomplishments and was very proud of the men that they became; his daughter-in-law, Tara Johnston; his siblings, Billy James, Randall Wayne, and Kippy Lee; his beloved grandchildren, Kaleb, Alexxis, Rylie, Chase, Preslie, and Bryan Johnston; and his great-grandchildren – the apples of his eye – Eliza Reign and River Lee Johnston, whom he adored and put many of his last years into loving them. He had many nieces and nephews that he adored him and loved with all his heart.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Freedom Freewill Baptist Church in Dean Springs with interment to follow at Bolton Cemetery in Alma, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Cody Johnston, Trent Johnston, Kaleb Johnston, Michael Gilmore, Richard Lewis, and Chamberlin Hart.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
