Lee Van Matre, 69, of Alma, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at his home. He was born January 19, 1955 in San Antonio to the late Ivestor and Cymanthia (Jacobs) Van Matre, Sr. Lee had been in the trucking business most of his life, a Crawford County Constable for over 20 years, an avid gold miner and loved fishing, the outdoors and anything that had to do with boxing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Stanley.
He is survived by two daughters, Charlene Massey of Fayetteville, and Jessica Lewis of DeQueen; a son, Daniel Van Matre of Alma; a sister, Sharon Gragg; a brother, Leslie Van Matre; six grandchildren, Joshua Lee, Kei, Kaydence, Kyran, Conlea, and Deuce; and four great-grandchildren, Miles, Rowen, Kaiden, and Tucker.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Quinton Cemetery in Quinton, OK, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be LaDon Gragg, Jeremy Gragg, Chad Gragg, Scott Gragg, Freddie Gragg, and Blaine Sills. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven George, and Lee’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2024, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR, and again at the Quinton Community Center at 1020 Main Street for refreshments and reminiscing.
