Elmer Ashlock, 93, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died Saturday, October 16, 2010 in his home. He was born August 17, 1917 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was a Police Officer for the City of Van Buren, and a cabinet maker. He served in the U.S. Army in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ashlock. He is survived by two daughters, Connie Gryner of Kibler and Patty Dipboye of Van Buren; two sons, Bobby Ashlock of Fullerton, California and Lloyd Pursley of Fort Smith; three sisters, Shirley Burkhart and Patsy Burkhart of Van Buren and Phyllis Moore of Figure Five; one brother Donny Ashlock of Van Buren; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren, and a number of great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, October 18, 2010 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Hwy, Van Buren, AR.
