Clarence Melbourne Howell

Rev. Clarence “C.M.” Howell, 90, of Barling, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 in Fort Smith. He was born October 18, 1932 in Brightwater to the late Bill and Dortha (Still) Howell. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a Southern Baptist Minister.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Howell of the home; a daughter, Connie Thornton and husband Mark of Fort Collins, CO; a son, Michael Howell and wife Phyllis of West Fork; four grandchildren, Jeremy and Jacob Thornton, Kristin Wren, and Sarah Bolt; and five great-grandchildren, Gracie, Lucas, and Gavin Thornton, and Anna and Caroline Wren.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment at 2:00 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter, Mo., under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be Michael Howell, Mark Thornton, Andrew Wren, Austin Bolt, Jacob Thornton, and Jeremy Thornton.

The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
