Rev. Bobby Mason, Sr., 81, of Roland, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, August 28, 2023 in Fort Smith. He was born May 10, 1942 in Scott, OK to the late Raymond and Grace (Staab) Mason. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and 12 years with the Air National Guard 188th Wing. Bobby was ordained by the Assemblies of God in 1980 and was in the ministry for over 40 years. He pastored Liberty Assembly of God for 3 years, Dora Assembly of God for 28 years, and Lees Chapel Assembly of God for 5 years. He lived what he preached. He loved the Lord, loved his family, and loved his church family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon (Ramer) Mason of the home; a daughter, Sydra Lockwood and husband Calvin of Roland; two sons, Bobby Mason, Jr. and wife Carla of Roland, and Barry Mason and wife Shawna of Dora; a sister, Patsy Clemmons of Dora; a brother, Raymond Mason and wife Jeanne of Williamsburg, KS; seven grandchildren, Amanda Meeker, April Faircloth, Nicole Mason-Brock, Miles Mason, Marissa Mason, Bethany Mason Schneider, and Audrey Mason, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2023 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Miles Mason, Dylan Swearingen, Devin Swearingen, Kaiden Meeker, Chuck Clemmons, Tim Clemmons, Andrew Brock, and Joseph Mason Schneider. Honorary pallbearers will be Farron Brunk, Richard Watson, Ed Watson, and the men of Dora Assembly of God.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
