After living a long life, Susanna Marie Musser of Ontario, 89, has gone to meet her Lord and Savior in Glory. She was born on October 3, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa to Rev. Sylvanus and Mary Landis and passed away on November 13, 2011. Her childhood was centered around the church and she came to love the Lord as a very young girl. She often accompanied her father as he traveled and preached and little Susanna sang standing on a chair. Her family included two younger brothers, Henry and Paul. Following her junior year of school, Sue came to Upland, CA to attend Beulah College. To help pay room and board, she cooked, ironed, babysat and worked as a nurse's aide. As a senior, she sang soprano in a traveling Ladies Quartet, which gave her lifelong friendships and memories. Sue loved Earl from the day she met him and after a brief courtship they were married on January 12, 1946. They enjoyed 62 years together until his passing in 2008. Over the years, they traveled to all the states in the U.S. and many countries as well. Within a short time Sue's desire for children came in a gift of Pamela and twin boys, Charles and James followed by Joseph and Thomas. Her love for her family was apparent in the raising of her children and caring of 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She considered this a calling and a blessing. What she did not expect was to have these same, rise up and call her "Blessed". She attended Gateway Community Church, Chino and its church planning GracePoint Church of Ontario. She sang in the church choir for many years and was active in Gideon's International. Sue was very interested in Brethren in Christ World Missions. Susanna is survived by her five children, a daughter, Pamela Simmons of Ontario, Charles (Jane) Musser of Chino, James (Sandra) Musser of Ontario, Joseph (Wilma) of Chino and Thomas (Julie) of Ontario. She is also survived by her brothers, Paul Landis of Indiana and Rev. Henry Landis of Kansas; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl and son in law Leroy Simmons. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 22 from 5-8 pm at Stone Funeral Home, 355 E. 9th Street, Upland, CA. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 23 at 11 am at Upland Brethren in Christ Church, 845 W. Arrow Hwy, Upland. Internment will follow at Belleview Mausoleum, 1240 W, G Street, Ontario. Memorial contributions in Susanna's name may be made to Brethren in Christ World Missions, 431 Grantham Rd., Grantham, PA 17027 or Gideon's International, 3233 Grand Avenue, Ste N PMB 355, Chino Hills, CA 91709.
