My deepest sympathies to the Bocanegra family. In the late 60’s Manuel would take my sister and I to their bakery in Ontario and let us pick out freshly baked Mexican bread, best in town.

How saddened I was to hear of Manuel's passing. He has left a real void in the life of many people who knew him that can never be entirely filled. Manuel and I attended the University of La Verne in 1976, and I knew Manuel as an outstanding person, a highly motivated student teacher who inspired many of us in the field of bilingual public education. Moreover, he earned the respect of all who came in contact with him during his long tenure as a dedicated teacher.
