Larry Clark Tisdale, 74, passed away October 11, 2023. He was born December 31, 1948, in Long Beach, CA. He graduated from Magnolia High School, received his B.A from Cal State Fullerton and his M.A. from Pepperdine. While attending school, he also served his country one weekend a month for six years in the Army National Guard. Larry began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Huntington Beach High School, Newport Harbor High School, and Katella High School in Anaheim. He was the first head football coach at Etiwanda High School and was one of the first teacher department chairmen hired to open the new high school in 1981. He was the head football coach at Etiwanda for 16 seasons. His awards include four-time Hacienda League Coach of the Year, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990. He was awarded the Los Angeles Times Inland Empire Coach of the Year in 1988. After winning the CIF Division V Championship in 1990, he was also named CIF Coach of the Year. Larry was very proud of all the players in his program. It gave him great joy to be a part of their lives and he spoke of them often. He was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on his favorite college teams. After retiring, he and his wife, discovered cruising and visited Japan, Portugal, Spain, Italy, the Bahamas, Germany, Canada, Belgium, London, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Scotland, and France on D-Day. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra; his son , Ryan (Lan) and 13-year-old son, Bradley of Lake Forest, CA; his sister Donna (Edward) Haskill of Mission Viejo, CA; nieces and nephews - Marla, Micki, Mindy, Missy, Marcy, Erin, Therese, Angie, Tracy, Marty, Marc, Kyle, Chris, Kevin, Daniel, and Brian; his sister-in-law, Cindy (Bruce) Miller of Alta Loma, CA; and his brother-in-law Rick (Suzi) Kramer of Rockville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Jean (Smith) Tisdale and Jack Luther Tisdale both of Hot Springs AR; his brother-in-law Gary Kramer of Las Vegas; his brother-in-law George Kramer of La Crosse, WI; and his mother-in-law Angie Kramer of Alta Loma. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 20th at St. Peter & St. Paul Church at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Montecito Memorial Park at 1:30 PM. Stone Funeral Home is overseeing the arrangements.
