Joy Louise Donaldson a long-time resident of Ontario, died peacefully with family at her side on Thursday, July 22, 2010. Born on September 7, 1924 in Manchester, NH to Athanasios and Lucretia Lambiris, Joy headed west soon after high school. During the second world war, she was "Joysie the Riveter" in the plane factories of Detroit. She found her way to San Diego, where she met John "Jake" Donaldson, to whom she was married for 40 years until his death in 1986. Together they raised three children, Betty Joy Core-Hackett, Kathleen Cowieson, and John "Randy" Donaldson. Joy was generous, had a strong spirit, and was loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed trips to casinos, playing bingo, collecting dolls and old movies, and spending time with her family. Joy is survived by her children and her son-in-law Max Hackett; her brother Antonio Lambiris and his wife Katy; her grand- children William "Billy" Cowieson, Amy Cowieson, Bonnie Borrer, and Jamie Donaldson; and her many nieces, nephews, grand- nieces, and grandnephews. She will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 12:00pm in Ontario at Bellevue Memorial Park in the West End Chapel. Should friends so desire, donations made to the charity of one's choice will be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Stone Funeral Home of Upland.
