Johnnie was born on September 30, 1951, in Wilson, Oklahoma. He grew up with a strong aspiration for success and a desire to contribute to his community. John dedicated 28 years to law enforcement, retiring at the age of 50 as captain of the Upland Police Department.
In addition to his professional commitments, John was devoted to his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ojeda, on May 1, 1971. Ten days later, he was drafted to the Army where he served in Vietnam as a tank mechanic.
Together, they raised two children, Jeffrey and Kimberly. John's love for his family shone through in every aspect of his life, and he especially adored his three grandchildren: Hope (11), Hunter (10), and Hannah (7).
John will be remembered for his kindness, his gift of conversation, and his ability to connect with everyone he met. He enjoyed his retirement by traveling with his family, was an avid eBay enthusiast, and loved trying his luck at the casinos.
The family will hold a private burial on December 23rd, and a memorial service to celebrate his life will take place in January, with the date to be confirmed shortly.
John made a significant impact on the lives of many and will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
A memorial service for Johnnie will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Hillside Community Church, 5354 Haven Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91737.
