GLORIA NATALIE VELTO, passed away on November 4th, 2010 in Upland; born in Brooklyn, New York on December 22, 1927 to Rosa and Fillippo Spina; married the love of her life Alexander Velto on June 24, 1949 and they were blessed with nine children. Gloria was active at St. Joseph's Church and school in Upland. Altar and Rosary President several times and held office in our Lady of Fatima Guild. Gloria assisted as a substitute teacher at both the school and CCD. Gloria was lector for several years as well as a Eucharist Minister. Gloria loved to sing, and had a beautiful voice that many will remember from her being in the church choir. She also loved to dance. She did the Bulletin crossword puzzle daily, enjoyed reading and always at 7pm she was in front of the TV for Jeopardy. She had recently learned to crochet and loved it so much that there were nights when she'd stay up well past midnight crocheting. Playing cards, bunco and bowling were things Gloria enjoyed very much but GAMBLING, well that was her absolute very favorite of all. Mention Vegas or Laughlin, she was packed and ready to go in a New York Minute. Cha Ching!! Gloria was a wonderful wife for 54 years and loving mother. She is preceded in death by her husband Al and sisters Angela and Dorothy. Gloria is survived by her nine children, Teresa and Jack Simmons, Alexander and Della, Michael Velto and Chuck Battin, Dianne and Chuck Westgate, Bill and Jody, Lisa and Roger Emmons, Christopher, Robert and Gloria and Philip and Lisa. She is also survived by fourteen Grandchildren, Rebecca Simmons-Thompson and Jason, Alexis and David Marguglio, Meredith Velto, John and Emily Cowley, Thomas Cowley and Milia Gandola, Kristen Dowling, Natalie, Alex and Billy Velto, Michael and Nicole Hultberg, Nicholas, Vincent and Gino Velto and by seven Great-Grandchildren, Drew and Paige Cowley, Keili Velto-Antonelli Christa and Trent Gerber, Mia and Anna Sophia Marguglio. Gloria is also survived by a sister Marilyn Kenul-Polk and brother Phillip Spina, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Gloria's life will be held on Saturday, November 27th at 10am at Stone Funeral Home, 355 East Ninth St., Upland, 909-982-1369. A reception to follow, the location and directions will be provided at the celebration.
