Elaine Ann Young, 68, of Rancho Cucamonga, California, died on Friday, November 10, 2023 after a three year battle with cancer. She was born in Michigan on January 4, 1955 to James and Lillian Young. As a child, she enjoyed swimming and fishing with her grandfather, Alfred Young, and grandmother, Agnes Young, at their cottage in Lake Orion, Michigan. Later Elaine moved to California to work in mortgage banking. After leaving that industry, she got a masters in teaching. She became a teacher at Caryn Elementary School and taught for almost 20 years, mostly teaching 5th grade. She was always very active and you might have noticed her driving around town in her little red sports car. Elaine cherished being a grandmother and visits with her family. She also loved travel, especially regular trips to Maui.
Elaine was beloved in her community of teachers, friends, church, and other organizations. She was an active member of the Hillside Community Church in Rancho Cucamonga.
Elaine is survived by her daughter Alexis Rockett (Drew), her son Jeremy Collins (Bobbi), her granddaughters Braylin and Madilyn Collins, brother Jim Young (Barbara), sister Vickie Memmer (Mark), nephew Jesse Young (Angela), niece Anjilla Skotak (Mark), nephew Matthew Memmer, niece Samantha Memmer, grandnieces and grandnephew Gia Young, Franco Young, and Brooke Skotak, Uncle Al Young and Aunt Anne Young.
Elaine was preceded in death by her father James Young and her mother Lillian Young.
A service will be held at Hillside Community Church 5354 Haven Ave, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91737 on January 4 2024, her birthday, at 10:30am
