She attended Calera High School where, as a high school sophomore, she began dating Tommie Young who was a junior.
In April 1963 while home on compassionate leave, Tommie (who had enlisted in the Air Force in January of 1963) and Sharon were married in Cartwright, Oklahoma. Upon graduation from Calera High School the following May, Sharon joined Tommie at his first Air Force assignment in Big Spring, Texas. In October of 1964, she gave birth to two beautiful baby girls Marilyn and Jerilyn
A military wife for 21 ½ years, Sharon was fiercely devoted to her husband and daughters. After Tommie’s retirement from the Air Force she was a homemaker, loving grandmother and great grandmother, and sometimes filled the role of surrogate grandmother to other families.
Sharon will be terribly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, extended family, and lifelong friends. She was a woman of strong faith who lived a full and fruitful life and leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her family.
