Sandra Kay Rogers passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the age of 71 due to complications from COPD. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Caroline Rogers of Antioch, California; her daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Melvin Graff of Layton, Utah; four beloved grandchildren, Catherine (Ben) Glad, Anne (Christian) Riboldi, Douglas Graff and Benjamin Graff; her sister Barbara Palmer of Sulphur Springs, Texas; her brother Robert Evans of Ft. Worth, Texas; her sweet dog Max.
Kay was born on February 3, 1945 in Victoria, Texas. She loved the fact that her birthday was 2/3/45. She graduated from Warner Robins High School in Georgia and attended one year at Middle Georgia College. While at college, Kay was a member of the drama club and was a cheer leader. Her family was reassigned with the military to Hickam AFB, Hawaii where she was a debutante in 1964. She married Larry Rogers in 1966 and they had 2 children together. They divorced in 1978.
Kay had a long career as a legal secretary for several law firms in the San Antonio area, and made wonderful friendships with coworkers during that time. She was a kind, generous person, and very good with people.
Kay was an accomplished quilter and a genius with a needle and thread. She crocheted, cross-stitched, sewed and knitted. She loved to read, wrote beautiful poetry and children's stories, and enjoyed fishing.
Kay was an avid dog lover. Her latest pet Max, was a dear companion.
Kay wished to be buried in the Lorena Cemetery, Lorena, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the San Antonio Area Scottie & Westie Rescue in her name. Contact Julie Walker at [email protected].
