Nellie B Matthews

Nellie B Matthews, age 94, of Universal City, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. She was born on March 28, 1928 in Covington, Tipton County, Tennessee and was the eleventh of fifteen children. Her many passions included cooking, sewing, working with flowers and crafts.She had a love of travel and was an avid bowling enthusiast where she participated in numerous bowling leagues over the years.

Nellie is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edwin Matthews, her parents, Harry and Lillie Jones; her sisters, Eddie May Jones, Mara Lee Pruitt, Melissa Manley, Sarah White and Mazie White; her brothers, Charles, Bennie, James, Dean, Herman, Virble, William, Clarence and Wilkie Jones.

She is survived by her sister in law, Margie Jones of Decaterville, Tennessee; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

A visitation for Nellie will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A committal service will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
