Maxine Joyce Simmang

Maxine Simmang of Universal City, Texas, formerly of Converse Texas. Passed away at the age of 83 years old on October 31, 2023. She was born on June 27, 1940 in Hondo, Texas to Ervin and Florence Leinweber of Hondo Texas

Maxine’s first and most important job was raising 4 rambunctious boys. When they grew up and went to school, she then went to beauty college and opened her own Beauty Shop in San Antonio Texas. Later on, after closing her shop, she opened an antique store in Converse Texas. After closing that store she became a Travel Agent.

Maxine loved hosting parties for her family and The Red Hat Ladies. She went on many trips with family and friends. At different parts of her life she loved sewing quilts and painting beautiful nature scenes. She was also a member of Universal City and Converse Baptist Churches.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Florence Leinweber; her husband, John William Simmang; her son, Bobby Wayne Simmang; her daughter in law, Lori Lynn Simmang and grandson, John Glen Simmang.

She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, John and Elizabeth Simmang, Michael and Stephanie Simmang, and Cary Simmang; her sister and brother in law, Joy and Kenneth Belcher; grandchildren, Arnold and Alisha Rabel, Bradley and Rebecca Rabel, Kristi and Edward Novack, Kevin Simmang, Mycaela Simmang, Logan Simmang; great grandchildren, Ray Anthony Rabel, Zachary Rabel, Jackson Rabel, Connor Rabel, Oliver Rabel, John Bradford and Laurie Simmang, Tori Simmang, Cameron and Kirsten Novack, Hailey and Wesley Parker; great great grandchildren, River Novack and Rhen Novack.

Pallbearers: Arnold Rabel, Bradley Rabel, Ray Antony Rabel, Zachary Rabel, Cameron Novack, Wesley Parker, Logan Simmang, Juan Inclan.

Visitation will be held from 9:00a.m.-10:00a.m. with funeral service from 10:00a.m.-11:00a.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd., Universal City, Texas 78148. Graveside service will follow at Hondo Cemetery in Hondo, Texas
