Marion 'Mike' O. Bruce was on born April 9, 1941 in Columbus, NC, and passed on April 15, 2021 with his loving wife of 58 years Shirley by his side. Mike is preceded in death by his Father, Floyd Bruce; his Mother, Laura Bruce and his Brother, Sidney 'Smitty' Bruce. Those left to keep his spirit in their minds and hearts are his wife, Shirley Bruce; his sons Michael (Joshua) Bruce, Braham, MN; Joseph (Rebecca) Bruce, Frisco, TX; and his Grandsons Aidan and Gavin Bruce.
Mike graduated from Tryon High School and attended Elon college for two years. After leaving Elon College he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1961 and proudly served for over 23 years. Upon retirement from the Air Force he found his next career path at SWBC for over 20 years until his retirement in 2007. Mike loved playing golf and bowling as well watching most sports. His passion for Nebraska Football and North Carolina basketball were unmatched.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home located at 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX. The service will be at 10:30 AM Friday, April 23, 2021 at the funeral home. Graveside services with full Military Honors will be scheduled at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, or the American Heart Assocation.
