Marilyn Sue (Smith) Walker went home to Our Lord and Savior on March 19, 2015 after fighting a long battle with Liver Disease. Sue was the daughter of the late Jack Smith and late Eloise Hoerster, born in Mason, TX on October 6, 1941. She was married to Stephen Walker on December 28, 1966 and had daughters Stephanie Hamilton, Donna Taylor and son John Walker. Sue retired from the NEISD where she was the principal’s secretary at Clear Spring Elementary School for almost 20 years. Prior to that Sue was a devoted Army wife and spent numerous years volunteering her time to the various Military Communities they lived in from Texas to Germany, from leading her daughters brownie/girl scout troupe to serving as the community Mayor under General Norman Schwarzkopf while stationed in Mainz Germany from 1978-1982. She led a selfless life, always putting the needs of others above her own and never asking for anything in return. She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Walker, daughter Stephanie Hamilton and Step-father Ervin Hoerster and is survived by her Son John Walker (Jeannette) of Live Oak, TX, Daughter Donna Taylor of San Antonio, TX, grandchildren Mina Walker, Alexander Walker, and Katrina Taylor, Brother’s Billie Jack Smith of Hondo, TX, Jim Smith (Carmen) of San Mateo, CA, Jerry Smith (Lupe) of Mason, TX, Tommy Smith (Mona) of San Angelo, TX, Sister Maydell (Lester) Vollmar of Fredericksburg, TX , also survived by Step-mother Mary Smith, half siblings Danny Smith, Kelly Smith and Jesse Lur’e McFadin along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
The Family will be accepting visitors on Monday March 23rd at Colonial Funeral Home from 6-8 pm with Grave Side Services taking place on Tuesday March 24th at 9 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
