Maria Elena Cortez Davis

Maria Elena Davis was born on May 8, 1940 and went to the Lord on October 6, 2012, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in San Antonio de Coronadaos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and came to the United States at the age of six. Later she attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas, graduating as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. After moving to San Antonio, She worked at the Metropolitan Hospital for 20 years and the N.E. Methodist Hospital for 10 years. Maria was preceded in death by her parents: her mother, Eloisa Munoz, and her father, Anastacio Cortez and by her sister, Maria Aguilar. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Phil Davis; her son Daniel Tellez (Linda); her daughter Monika Barragan; her step-sons Ricky Davis (Lisa); Kenneth Davis (Kelly); step-daughter Antonia Hernandez (Emilio); her brothers and sisters: Sylvia (Alberto); Jose (Rachel); Maria Elena (Alfonso); Rosa Maria (George); Maria Esther (Tranquilino); Hector (Bertha); Oscar (Angeles); Martha Alicia (Gabriel), and Maria Lucila (Gregorio). Elena has 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Elena,s family would like to thank Audrey Plyler and Irma Stiller and her family for the love and support shown to her and Phil through her final journey in life. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. and funeral services will be Friday, October 12, 2012 at 9:00 A.M. at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk, Universal City, Texas 78148. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
