Lori Ann Martin Markle of San Antonio Texas, formerly of Converse Texas, passed January 13th, 2024. Lori was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on April 9th, 1963 to Ernest Lionel Martin and Patricia Mae White Martin.
Lori was a selfless woman with a kind, giving soul that flourished in so many areas of her life. When it came to real estate, she was fierce in getting her clients what they wanted, and never gave up finding them the perfect home. She won numerous awards for her efforts in San Antonio and was a highly respected member of NAHREP, alongside her partner Julio Rivera. Aside from her professional achievements, she was foremost an amazing mother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin and friend. She was an avid Christian who was heavily involved in her Church, often serving on Care Team to help arrange funeral services and meal deliveries for those who had lost a loved one. She loved playing Bunco with friends from church, and always had a smile on her face even if she was losing. She was a wonderful girl scout leader- teaching her girls many life skills like camping, outdoor cooking, or starting a fire. When it came to cookie sales, she was outside no matter the weather to help her girls succeed. Lori loved going on cruises with her siblings and sister-in-law, and she was always game for a spontaneous road trip. She loved driving to Houston, Bastrop, or even Montana to see friends- and often visited her daughter and niece in Colorado, driving up last minute and staying for a week. During some these visits, Lori was able to witness her son-in-law’s baptism, make lasting memories with her niece’s children, and help out following many of her daughter’s dental surgeries.
It was universally known that one of her favorite places to visit was the beach- she found peace in the sunshine, breeze, and sound of the waves. Although she liked the sand in her toes, sometimes she would park her car on the beach with the windows down and sit listening to the waves. When she couldn’t get to the beach, she loved to swim in the pool with her sisters. She shared a love for books with her daughter, often trading books and discussing them over the phone. While she was new to Escape Rooms- she enjoyed doing them with her son and his girlfriend. She loved baking cookies, decorating cakes, and cooking- she was well known for her famous deviled eggs. Lori loved crafting and was an expert at Do-It-Yourself crafts, helping her daughter with wedding favors and centerpieces. The wonderful memories we carry of Lori go on and can be summed up in a few words: she loved fiercely and always put others first.
Lori is preceded in death by her husband William Wrick Markle, her nephew Ellery Everett Walker, and her uncle Eugene Martin.
Lori is survived by her children Cody (Kate) and Cheyenne (Shye), her parents Ernest and Patricia, brother Brad (Terri), sisters Susan and Kimberly (Todd), cousins Michael (Cynthia) and Michelle (Scott), aunt Peggy, nephews Jack (Amy), and Jacob, nieces Amy (Ryan) and Jennifer, great nieces Olivia and Julianna, and great nephew Noah.
Special thanks to Julio Rivera for being a great business partner and even better friend for more than 20 years.
