Lonnie C. Popham, Jr. passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015, at the age of 84. He was born on May 9, 1931 in Seguin, Texas to Lonnie C. Popham, Sr. and Lily Katherine (Ham) Popham. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a railway clerk until his retirement at age 62. He also served in the United States Army. During his enlistment, he received the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, UN Service Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching basketball and track at St. Peter Claver Academy/Healy-Murphy for 16 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Florence, Claudia, and Doris, and one brother, Lehnis. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nettie W. Popham; sister, Dorothy Thrasher; son Terry Popham and wife Lydia, daughter Chris Wright and husband Gene, daughter Becky Johnson and husband Mark, son Brian Popham and wife Gina, daughter Stacie Milanovich and husband Nick; grandchildren Ricky Herrell, Christopher Herrell and wife Sara, Kristy Wright, Robin Plumlee and husband Steve, Amber Johnson, Mandy McDaniel and husband Bryan, Jake Popham and wife Heidi, Josh Popham, Brian James Popham, Greg Popham and wife Aleice, Trey Milanovich, and Ben Milanovich; great-grandchildren, Bruce Herrell, Stokely Herrell, Zada Herrell, Drake Herrell, Jeremiah Farrell, Charlie Farrell, Jude Herrell, Faith Herrell, Joanna Herrell, Samantha Johnson, Laykin McDaniel, Blayne McDaniel, and Slade Popham; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 A.M. and funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Colonial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Gentiva Hospice in San Antonio.
