Heaven gained a bright shiny new angel just in time for Christmas. Linda loved Christmas. She also loved birthdays, and what is Christmas if not the world’s most important birthday celebration. With Christmas, as in birthdays, the meaning is about giving and Linda never stopped giving to family, friends and every person she met.
Linda was born with cerebral palsy, but she never let that define her or stop her from living a full life. As a child, Linda participated in Lions Camps and Special Olympics. As a student she excelled at learning and graduated from Judson High School in 1984. After high school, she attended classes at St. Phillips College in San Antonio. She was always up for a challenge and dared anyone to tell her she could not do something.
As an adult, Linda enjoyed many activities with her friends and family. The activities she enjoyed most included bowling, shopping, stamp collecting, snow globe collecting, and best of all, Christmas and birthday parties.
Linda never met a stranger and who met her loved her. Her ever expanding social circle included not only her friends, but teachers, doctors, nurses, waitresses, and anyone else fortunate enough to experience her exceptionally affectionate personality. Linda loved people so much that she would instantly memorize a person’s phone number and birthday. She would use this information continuously and at will as all of her friends would confirm.
Linda was always accompanied by her parents, Thelma and Clark, who dedicated their lives to fulfilling hers. Thelma and Clark set the standard for the enduring love of a parent. Their dedication should never be confused for sacrifice as they extended their love for Linda as well as for their older sons Doug and Jerry.
It is comforting to know that in Heaven Linda now has perfect vision, hearing and speech, as well as a strong body and legs. Linda is no doubt easy to spot in Heaven as she certainly is the only angel sporting beautiful purple wings and halo.
Linda is survived by her loving parents, Thelma and Clark Hendrix, brothers Doug and Jerry, and too many friends to count.
A memorial reception will be held on Thursday, December 29th, from 2pm to 4pm, at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road in Universal City.
