Johanna Castleman was born in Germany on November 23, 1927 to Ottilie and Josef Gall. She married the love of her life, CSM Charles Robert “Bob” Castleman in 1957 and moved from her home country to follow Bob throughout his military career in the Army. They had three children, Lorrie, Bobby and Linda. She also loved her fur baby Prince Orpheus Castleman.
Johanna took pride in raising her children and keeping the perfect home for her family. After various relocations, Bob retired from the Army in 1971. The Castleman family moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to start their life after the military. Johanna enjoyed baking, taking care of the yard, and having the ladies over for coffee as often as she could.
In 1992, Bob and Johanna relocated to Universal City, Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Johanna enjoyed working on her crafts, water aerobics, continuous shopping with her daughters, and taking care of her grandchildren. Bob Castleman passed away in 1999, and Johanna carried on his generous legacy and was able to care for her home and family independently. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to others in need.
Johanna led a long and full life. She was blessed by family, both near and far, and was always grateful that she and Bob raised three successful children that they could be proud of. Johanna had five grandchildren who have undoubtedly lived up to the standard of being a Castleman. Those who were closest to her knew her as Omi.
Johanna fought a hard and courageous battle against cancer until her body could not take it any longer. She requested to have no formal services and wanted to be remembered as she was prior to her illness. We take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her husband Bob and son, Bobby.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Charles Robert Castleman, her son Robert Stanley Castleman, her parents, Josef Gall and Ottilie Knieler Gall, Father in law, Clayton Stanley Castleman, Mother in law, Vivian Ruth Simpson Castleman Bailey, Step father Edward J Bailey, brother in law Jerry Lynn Castleman, nephew Stanley Castleman, great grand dogs Bandit, Daniel and Pudge and great grand rabbits, Alice Fluffington and Benny.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine J. Case, (Dave), daughter, Linda Castleman Donlea (Shannon), daughter in law Billie F. Castleman, grandchildren, Jenna Castleman, Colton Welch, Dalton Castleman, Stefanie Case, Ashley Wayman (Eric), great grand dogs, Maxwell and Mojo and great grand rabbit, Roo.
