Gary J. Gray age 77, of Converse, Texas went into the precious arms of Jesus on Monday, March 30, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas following a long illness. Gary was born October 2, 1942 to Joe and Dorothy Gray. A native of San Antonio, Texas, he graduated from Edison High School, where he played football.
Gary served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war. He was trained in the Navy as an Optician but had other careers in medical sales and insurance. He enjoyed cooking and photography and loved his family and dedicated himself to helping others. Gary decided to follow Christ in December of 2000 and devoted the rest of his life to serving him.
In 2005 Gary and his wife, Cindy, felt led by God to help with raising his granddaughters Jazmine, Jayd, and Jule Gray; and their baby brother Justice.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Dorothy Gray; his sister, Donna Gray Rich; and his son, John Gray. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Gray; former wife and mother to John and Kendra, Sherron Gray; his daughter, Kendra Gray Rioux and spouse Claude; his daughter, Jeannie Vasquez and spouse Eddie; son Christopher Matlock and spouse Jennifer, son Justice Wesley Gray; his brother, Tommy Gray; mother in-law, Claire Perry; father in-law, Rev. Carroll R. Perry; Sister in-law, Candice Perry; brother in-law Dan Rich; nine grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He has touched the hearts of many people though his amazing compassion and best sense of humor.
There was always room in his heart for more people to care for and love, and we will remember how his laugh warmed ours.
