Gary was born on April 22, 1943 to Marion and Clara Ellis in Argos, Indiana. Gary joined the United States Air Force upon completion of high school and proudly served for 23 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He went on to work 15 years in civil service at a military base, then concluded his career driving trucks in the Middle East. Gary married Diana Ellis, April 3, 1993 and they spent 23 wonderful years together. He enjoyed working outside (meticulously on his yard), tinkering on his bike, riding motorcycles with the Goldwing Association (including a road trip covering the four corners of the US), and spending time with family. Gary loved gathering with his daughters, 8 grandchildren, their spouses, and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Diana; his parents Marion and Clara, and his two brothers Larry and Terry. He is survived by his daughter Cynde (Scott) Williams and step-daughter Jennifer (Joe) Bailey; his siblings Shirley Farkas, Sharon Schaetzle, Marion Ellis Jr, and Randy Ellis.
We will always remember him for his kindness, generosity, wisdom and humor. He made a difference in the world and in our hearts. We will cherish his memory forever.
The family requests all attendants wear Red, White, and Blue to celebrate Gary's Service in the Air Force and the immense pride he had in his country.
