Lt. Col. Dorothy E. Bower U.S. Air Force Retired passed away on Monday August 8, 2011 at the age of 92. She was born on December 10, 1918 to Henry and Hazel McHugh in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She was a registered nurse and flight attendant for American Airlines before serving her country in the U.S. Air Force as a flight nurse from 1952 – 1972 during the Korean and Vietnam wars. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Col. James Bower; sister, Mary McCall; and brother, James McHugh. She is survived by her sisters, June Murphy, Kathleen Tousignant, Helen Fischer; special friend, Gen. Tom Whitehouse; and many nieces and nephews. A reception will be held on Friday August 12 at 11:00 AM at the Army Residence Community.
