She grew up in Spade, Texas where her father James was a farmer and mother, Lillian, a homemaker.
Dorcas married Burley H. Ryals in 1953 while he was stationed at Reese Air Force Base. After years of travel, that took them abroad to Switzerland with the Air Force, made San Antonio home. Dorcas worked 20 plus years as Secretary for the Universal City Police Department.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Jimmie Duke; her parents, James R. and Lillian Duke; her husband, Burley H. Ryals, married 65 years at the time of his death.
She is survived by her sons, Randy Ryals and wife Lily of San Antonio, Texas, Ken Ryals and wife Pam of Irving, Texas; grandchildren, Gaby and Allen McGill, Belen and Clint Braudaway of San Antonio, Texas, Brandon Ryals of Irving, Texas, Jeffrey Ryals of Bradenton, Florida; great grandchildren, Aiden McGill, Jaxson McGill, Brandon Ryals II, Maverick Ryals, Ari Braudaway and Astraya Braudaway. Dorcas was caring, compassionate and had a big heart for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 7, 2023 from 10:00a.m.-11:00a.m. followed by a funeral service from 11:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. conducted by Pastor David Lindow at First Baptist Church of Universal City, 1401 Pat Booker Rd., Universal City, Texas 78148.
