She will be missed dearly by her children Nannette Rangel Lugo (son-in-law Leonel), Omar Rangel (daughter-in-law Jenny), Eloy Rangel (daughter-in-law Lucy), as well as her granddaughters, Kayla Morales (Ernie), Rebecca Lockhart (John), Vanessa Rangel (Michael Pineda) and Great Grandchildren, Lorelai Lockhart, Elizabeth Lockhart and Michael Lockhart. She is preceded in death by her parents Ofelia and Jose Gonzalez, husband Joe A. Rangel and her brothers Jose (Coche) Gonzalez (Sister-In-Law, Dora), Juan (Johnny) Gonzalez, Ruben Gonzalez, Rogelio Gonzalez, Arnulfo Gonzalez (Sister-In-Law, Yolanda) and her sister Celia Gonzalez. She is survived by her sisters Elia (Yaya) Mendoza and Gloria Cadena. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and godchildren.
She graduated in 1958 from Ben Bolt High School in Ben Bolt, TX. Pursued a career in Business Administration by attending Durham Business College in Corpus Christi, TX. Preceded employment at Robert B. Green Hospital, as a Medical Secretary in San Antonio, TX where she met her Loving Husband, Joe and married on August 28, 1961.They were married for 48 years until he passed into the Lord’s arms on August 5, 2010. She continued her career as a Teacher’s Aide, Substitute Teaching and Retired from Civil Service in 1988. She was a Guadalupana at St Monica’s Catholic Church. She was a loving, caring, kind, generous, Christian lady who loved her Lord, her husband, her family, and many friends who became family. She loved and was loved by all and will be sadly missed.
Thank you to all the medical staff and medical specialists that have contributed to her health care, especially her diabetes and heart disease. Heartfelt Thank you to her Special Companion, Herineo (Neo) Cadena and Cadena Family for all the Love, Caring, Support and Joy for the last decade, you gave her the will to live life to the fullest. You will be FAMILY for life.
Visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home 626 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, TX 78148 on Wednesday, March 8th at 5 pm. The rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 9th at 9 am. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 501 North Street Converse, TX 78109. Committal Service will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209 at 10:45 am.
