Calloway was born in June 1971 in Mobile, Alabama and was a student at Judson High School. Entering the Marine Corps after graduation, he served as a military police officer in various places, among them Camp Lejeune, Gitmo, and Puerto Rico. He spent over 25 years in law enforcement with many, many certifications and awards. He was a Sergeant at Cibolo Police Department, then volunteered for a tour in Iraq as a government contractor returning to the Cibolo PD, then as an instructor for the federal government. Then as a motorcycle police officer for Bexar county Constable Precinct 3 until an accident cut his career short.
Calloway could fix/build almost anything! From the time he was a small boy, he just seemed to know how to repair anything that was broken. He could build anything from fire pits, BBQ grills, motorcycles and all that went with them; he knew how to weld and build his own parts that he needed. Many people would call with whatever mechanical problem they were having and he could analyze and walk them through the problem or even bring the item to him and he would fix it. Everyone knew that he was always ready to help anyone at any time.
He loved all water sports with family from swimming, boating, kayaking, diving, skiing and most of all fishing! Loved the coast especially Port Aransas and Canyon Lake as well. His other love was motorcycles: riding, racing, modifying, and fixing them the way he wanted them. His idea of an ideal Sunday was to ride in the hill country and feel the wind on his face and the sun on his back. He was taken from us too soon and will be missed so very much.
Calloway is survived by his daughter Isabella Lawson, parents Cal and Joyce Lawson, sister Kari Upchurch, nephews Ryan and Earl Stewart and Patrick Upchurch, great-niece Vivienne Stewart, great-nephews Isaac and Callum from Oak Grove KY, and aunt Saundra Espich of Vandalia OH, uncle Dave Lawson of Bellefontaine, OH, and a multitude of friends.
