Steve was born in Elizabeth and raised in Union. He was a graduate of Union High School and went on to work in IT for all of his career. In his last role, he was a Senior Software Engineer at BMC Software, Inc. He was an active member of the community and a 3rd-degree member at the Knights of Columbus, Council #4504.
Steve loved watching the Jets play on Sundays and enjoyed Wednesday nights at Sun Tavern and, later, at Mario’s with his brother, uncles, and friends. The rest of his time was also well spent – he could be found at either Riley’s soccer games or on the deck in his backyard, grilling steaks and enjoying a cold beverage. He loved summers at Culver Lake, LBI, and the occasional trip to Virgin Gorda.
Steve will be missed by many. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years Barbara, loving daughters Caitlin Grace and Riley Meghan, brother Daniel and Rose, brother Thomas and Cynthia, sister Eileen and Jamie, uncle John and Barbara, uncle Steve, aunt Mary and Al, and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. He is predeceased by his mother Janet and his father Daniel.
Steve will be forever remembered for his hearty, contagious laugh, for his warm presence, and for always thinking of others. He was gentle, kind, and a whole lot of fun.
Family and friends are invited to visit McCracken Funeral Home on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM for Steve’s memorial.
