Rose Renna Keenan

Born to the late Vincenza (Russo ) Renna & Emmanuel Renna in Elizabeth, NJ & grew up in the Peterstown Section of Elizabeth.

Rose attended Thomas A Edison Vocational School for Cosmetology & Hairdresser (Beautician). Upon graduation began working as a beautician at the Winfield Scott Hotel in Elizabeth.

Rose married James J. Keenan in 1952 and they were together for 56 years. James predeceased Rose in 2009. They were the proud parents of Susan Keenan of Brick and Diane (Keenan) Reppy (Mark) of Howell. Loving grandmother of Brian & Michael Reppy of Howell.

After 25 years of raising 2 children and caring for the home, Rose returned to work at the House of Ginee Beauty Salon in Elizabeth, NJ. The Salon was owned by a former colleague of Rose’s from the Winfield Scott Hotel.

Rose was a parishioner of St. Genevieve Church in Elizabeth and was a member of their Rosary Society and Leisure Group (Café Gene).

Jim and Rose were members of the Union Elks Lodge 1583. Rose joined the Women’s Auxiliary at the lodge.

Rose loved being a wife and mother & caring for the home. She loved to cook, sew and entertain. Jim & Rose loved to travel, take cruises and dance lessons. The enjoyed Italy and Ireland, their homelands. Weekend trips to Atlantic City, later on, became their getaway destination several times a year.

Rose is predeceased by her sisters; Frances Acque and Michelina Cortese, brother Salvatore Renna.
