Robert E. Malkmus, age 93, of Bricktown N.J, formerly of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 23, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held at McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Avenue Union, NJ, on Thursday February 27, 2025 at 11 AM. The family will receive their friends prior to the service from 9:30 to 11AM. Interment and committal will be held at Hollywood Memorial Park Union, NJ. Bob was a Major League baseball player, coach and major league scout for the Cleveland Indians. Bob’s baseball career started with the Milwaukee Braves as an infielder. He later played for the Washington Senators and the Philadelphia Phillies. After leaving the Phillies he went on to coach in the minor leagues and later retired as a professional baseball scout for the Cleveland Indians. Bob was a devout member of the Crossroads Christian Fellowship Church in Union, NJ. He served as an elder, deacon, youth leader and usher. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Ruth Bishoff Malkmus, his daughter Robin Rachwal and his siblings Margaret Sharmo, Wilbur and Harold Malkmus. He is survived by his son James (Leslie) Malkmus. His grandsons James (Christine) Malkmus, Paul (Danielle) Malkmus, Peter (Sophie) Malkmus and Luke (Micaela) Malkmus. Bob is also survived by 9 great-great-grandchildren.
