Richard H. Higgins

Richard H. Higgins, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in Summit, NJ. Richard was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Thomas & Betts in Elizabeth for many years where he worked as an engineer, and also worked for the Daily Journal in Elizabeth. Richard was an avid train collector, as well as a sports enthusiast. He was the oldest resident of Putnam Manor in Union.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Eileen; his children Gregory S. and his wife Stephanie, Kelly, and Megan Suarez and her husband Phil. He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren Shannon, Riley, Casey, and Jack, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 2-6 PM at the McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Ave Union, NJ. Funeral will be held on Monday, September 23 from the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Funeral mass will be offered at Holy Spirit Church, Union at 10:30AM, with entombment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
