Regina Nevin Caulfield, of Chatham, formerly of Union and Spring Lake, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at Jersey Shore Medical Center on July 20, 2016. Regina, daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa O’Malley Nevin, was born in Jersey City and graduated from St. Aloysius Academy in 1948 and from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. Regina is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. James M. Caulfield, former Superintendent of the Union Township Public Schools, daughters Dr. Maryrose Caulfield, the Hon. Regina Caulfield (Douglas Lanthier), and Colleen Caulfield, and son James, Jr. (Donna), and by her nine grandchildren, Erin (Jeremy Gorin), Brendan and Bridget Sloan, Meaghan Caulfield, Christopher and Laura Lanthier, Sean (Kelly) Caulfield, and Tara and Tess Rempel, and by sisters-in-law Agnes “Bobbie” Nevin and Arlene Nevin, her former daughter-in-law Karen Caulfield, and many nieces and nephews. Regina was predeceased by her parents and brothers John and Joseph. Regina was proud to have become the youngest secretary, at age 21, to one of the partners at the Davis Polk law firm in Manhattan. She was active in the Holy Spirit Church community and served as president of the Rosary Altar Society. After raising her children, Regina became the administrative assistant to the vice-president of Eureka, Inc., before her retirement. Regina will be remembered for her devotion to her husband Jim, her love of her children and grandchildren, her enjoyment of the Jersey shore, especially Spring Lake, and for her indomitable spirit. Family and friends may visit between 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Church, 971 Suburban Road, Union at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016. Entombment at St. Catharine’s Cemetery in Sea Girt.
