Philomena McGovern

Philomena McGovern, 84, passed away surrounded by her family on September, 18, 2017. She is predeceased by her husband, Owen Roe McGovern, and her son Owen Jr. She is survived by her children; Jerry McGovern and Ann, Mary Fitzsimmons and Bob, Brian McGovern and Yvonne; and her siblings Terry Hughes and John McGovern. Philomena was known as the loving Momma Phylis to her grandchildren; Erin Anderson, Kerry Gilmoure, Colleen McGovern; Siobhan, Bobby and Fionnuala Fitzsimmons; Sean, Shannon, Siobhan, Brian Jr, Aileen and Aislinn McGovern, and her three great-grandchildren; Caitlin, Maggie and Brady. Philomena was a proud Irish immigrant from Dowra, Co Cavan, Ireland who settled in Elizabeth, NJ in 1957. She was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament for over 50 years and a member of the Morley and McGovern Association. She loved spending time with family and friends.

A visitation will be held at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, on Friday, Sept. 22 from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament, 1096 North Ave, Elizabeth, NJ at 10am on Saturday, Sept. 23 followed by a burial at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery.
