Born in Newark, he served as a Sergeant with the Newark Police Department from 1964 to 1995 serving in various commands including several years assigned to the Police Emergency Bureau (now known as ESU) and the South District.
He is a 1954 graduate of West Side High School in Newark and was an apprentice draftsman at Singer Engineering Company. He also served his country and community for 6 years in the New Jersey Army National Guard.
Nicholas is survived by his wife of 54 years Barbara, his three children, Barbara Bolger and her husband Michael, Tina Schwarz and her husband John and Nicholas Ricigliano, Jr. and his wife Rebecca. He is also survived by his 4 granddaughters and 2 grandsons.
A visitation for Nicholas will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ.
A funeral mass will occur on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 10:00am at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 971 Suburban Road, Union with a graveside service following at Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, 1500 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union.
