He was born on October 27, 1934, in Cayey, Puerto Rico to the late Gabriel and Cruz (nee Negron) Charriez.
He served in the U.S. Army until 1958 and later worked as a corrections officer for the San Juan, Puerto Rico Department of Justice.
Nestor visited New York City in 1952, returned to Puerto Rico where he married Edith Meléndez in 1959, and eventually settled in New Jersey in 1970.
He was ordained as a Deacon for the Roman Catholic Church in 1978, proudly serving the Church, primarily St Patrick's Church in Elizabeth, NJ, for nearly 40 years before retiring in 2017.
He worked as a warehouse foreman at Guest Supply in Rahway, New Jersey until 1988. Such was his passion for cooking and baking that after retirement, he attended culinary school to enhance his skills.
Nestor was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Cremation services are private under the direction of the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, New Jersey 07083. A memorial mass will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 984 Suburban Rd., Union, New Jersey 07083 on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:30AM followed by inurnment at Saint Gertrude Chapel Mausoleum of the Crucifixion, 53 Inman Ave, Colonia, New Jersey 07067.
