Mary E. Kluxen

Mary E. Kluxen “Betty”, age 89, of Cedar Grove, NJ, formerly of Hillside, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 29, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Church Suburban Road corner of Morris Avenue Union, NJ, on Wednesday December 3, 2014 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery N. Arlington, NJ. The family will receive their friends at McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Avenue on Tuesday December 2, 2014 from 4-8 PM. Betty achieved her lifelong dream by becoming a registered nurse . She received her nursing degree in 1946 from St. James Hospital Nursing School in Newark, NJ and continued working at St. James Hospital for many years. She later worked at West Hudson Hospital in Kearney, NJ, and Cornell Hall Nursing Home in Union, NJ, before her retirement. Betty was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Church Rosary Society and volunteered for many years with her late husband William at St. Joseph Social Services in Elizabeth, NJ. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, William T. Kluxen. She is survived by her devoted children William and his wife Sarah Kluxen, Maryellen Kluxen and Patricia and her husband Joseph Bergen, her loving grandchildren Dan, Joanna, Tim, Alicia and John, her cherished great- grandson Kai, and her dear nephew Paul Mackle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent Nursing Home Auxiliary Guild 315 East Lindsley Rd. Cedar Grove, NJ 07009.
