Marko was born on January 19, 1949 in Štoj, Ulqin, Montenegro to Zefi and Lena (Lohja) Velovic. He immigrated to the United States in 1968 and on October 25, 1975, he married Delia Drejaj and would go on to raise four sons. Upon arriving Marko began working in an Italian bakery located in the Parkchester section of the Bronx. In the late 80’s early 90’s he became a United States citizen which gave
him a great sense of pride. He would ultimately succeed the original proprietor of Leonard’s Bakery and would run the business successfully for 38 years until retirement.
Marko was well known in the community for his bread and pastries.
In his earlier years Marko liked to bowl and play volleyball. He was an avid tennis fan and followed the major tournaments every year on tv. He rooted for the Red Sox and Tom Brady to the dismay of his family and friends who supported the rival local teams. He was known for his unique character, practical jokes, his generosity, and most of all his love for his family.
Marko is survived by his wife Delia, his four children, Joseph, Paul, Robert, Daniel, his daughters-in-laws Sarah, Melissa, Lindita, his brother Noci, his sisters Katrina, Prena, Justina and his grandchildren Rachel, Ava, Joshua, Aleksander, and Rebecca.
