Marie L. Rehn

Marie Weber Rehn (nee Best), age 107, a longtime resident of Union Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 16, 2015. The family will receive their friends at McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Avenue Union, NJ, on Tuesday April 21, 2015 from 9 to 10AM Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Holy Spirit Church Suburban Road corner of Morris Avenue Union, NJ, at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park Union, NJ. A 107 year old NJ resident, Marie Weber Rehn, believed the secret to her longevity was “everything in moderation” and “you have to keep moving”. She was a determined and independent woman, with a sharp wit and strong sense of family. Born in Newark, NJ, in 1907, to Marie and John Best, her mother was the proprietor of J&J Best, a successful candy and ice cream shop on Wilson Avenue in Newark. Her father worked for C. Feigenspan Brewing Company. Marie worked for The National State Bank of Newark from 1925-1937, where she met her first husband, George Weber. They had one daughter, Marlene. After her husband passed away in 1953 she returned to work at the First National Bank in Irvington. Marie married Armand Gregory Rehn in 1956. They enjoyed traveling and being with their families. An inspiration to all, Marie lived independently until the age of 102. Moving to Brighton Gardens in Mountainside, she became an active member of their community. She was cared for by an attentive and very loving staff. Marie was predeceased by her husband’s George B. Weber and Armand G. Rehn, her siblings Joseph and Charles Best and Helen Best Gillen, her son-in-law Donald G. Ring and her grandson Thomas Ring. She is survived by her devoted daughter Marlene Ring; she was beloved “Gammie” to Donna and her husband Paul Hydock and Suzanne and her husband Robert Glassman and loving “Great-Gammie” to Megan and her husband Michael Grosner, Matthew Glassman, Erin Hydock, Amelia Hydock, Ian Glassman and Olivia Glassman.
