He was born in Hungary on March 2, 1930, to the late Franz and Magdalena Staub. He immigrated to the United States when he was 25 years old. He went to school to learn English and became a stationery engineer working on air conditioning and heating systems, retiring after 42 years.
Joseph met his wife, Rosemarie (nee Pfeiffer) on a blind date and they went on to be happily married for 57 years until she passed away in 2016.
He is survived by his daughters Ann Marie Callas (Evan), and Ellen Brewster (the late Jeff); grandchildren, Christopher Callas (Dawn), Nicholas Callas (Courtney), Stephanie Callas, Amanda Brewster, Kevin Brewster; great-grandson, Jace Callas; and predeceased by grandson, Ryan Callas.
Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family at the beach every summer and enjoyed celebrating all birthdays and holidays together. He was always up for the challenge to help with any household projects his children needed, but what gave him the most pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling within the U.S. as well as Germany, especially going to visit his parents and sister.
