Born in Pittston, PA, John moved to Bloomfield NJ as a teenager and later lived in Irvington, Union, Springfield and Garwood NJ.
John served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during WWII and served as a guard at the Nuremberg War Trials.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Vera (nee Gatfield) as well as his parents John F. and Effie (nee Kassa) Novobilski.
John is survived by his son John E, daughter Janet Gardner and her husband Peter, Grandson Brian Gardner and his wife Elizabeth.
He enjoyed volunteering at the Lyons VA Center with the Union AARP Chapter, wood carving, playing the harmonica and in Florida, riding his 3 wheel tricycle around the neighborhood.
John worked as a supervisor for 3M Company for many years retiring in 1990.
A private graveside service will be held in NJ. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday September 17, 2023 at 1pm at the Lakeside Lutheran Church, Venice Fl. You can also attend the service via live streaming on the Lakeside Lutheran Church channel.
