John F. Malara, 78, of Hillside, N.J., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010. The family will receive their relatives and friends at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J., on Monday, Dec. 27, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Christ the King Church, Hillside, N.J., at 9:30 a.m. An interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. John was born in Newark, N.J. He was the youngest of nine siblings. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and served honorably during the Korean War. John received his doctorate at Seton Hall University. He taught math and English at Neumann Prep in Wayne, N.J., and Morris Catholic in Denville, N.J. John was the beloved husband of the late Mary G. Malara (nee LaTorraca) and loving father of Marc Malara and Generose Malara. He is also survived by his dear sister, Grace Malara.
