George H. Glassen, 75, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013. George was a proud graduate of The Juilliard School, and later became a professional musician. He was a member of various groups such as “The Victorians”, “The Vix”, “The Barry Herman Orchestra”, and “The Joisey Bounce”. He played with these groups for many years in cities throughout the country. One of his proudest accomplishments was appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1968 with “The Victorians”.
George is survived by his loving wife Eileen. He also leaves behind his children Edward and his wife Michelle, Michael and his wife Donna, Kimberly, and his step-son Norman Schroeder and his wife Maureen. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jennifer, Kyle, Kayla, Corey, John, Ronald, Ryan, Alexandra, and Katarina, as well as his brothers Joseph and his wife Doris, and Jack and his wife Donna.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 20 from 4-8 PM at the McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Ave Union. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 21 at 10:30AM with entombment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
