George grew up in Newark and Irvington and was educated in the Newark school system later George and his family moved to Union. George went on to serve his country in the US Navy. While in the Navy George worked as a Seabee. Upon his return George attended Parsons college in Iowa. George then joined the Essex County Police Force. Throughout his career, George wore many hats as he served as an Police Officer, firearms instructor, mounted officer, motorcycle and George worked in the Special Crimes Unit.
George was an Animal lover and in his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling around the country on his motorcycle.
George leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his wife Sharon of 47 years. His son Michael and Michaels partner Kenneth Tetreault, his daughter Michelle and his granddaughter Gia.
George was dedicated officer, great family man, loving father, and a devoted husband; he will be missed by all who knew him.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday 4:00 – 8:00 PM, at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday 9:30 at Holy Spirit Church, 984 Suburban Road, Union.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or the ASPCA in George’s memory.
