Born in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Henry & Helen Koester, Arlene attended Battin High School in Elizabeth. Following high school, she worked for New Jersey Bell as a switchboard operator before meeting her husband Richard.
After her marriage, she waitressed for several years for Roselle Golf Club & L’Affaire 22. After her children were all in school, she became a secretary for Clinton Square Auto Parts & Armin Plastics.
Arlene loved traveling, especially taking cruises & trips to Ireland. She also loved to crochet.
Most will remember her for her friendship which was special to all who knew her. She was kind, caring, funny, dependable, always there when someone was in need and always had a smile on her face no matter what life threw at her.
The family will especially remember her for being the first to send out her Christmas cards every year.
Predeceased by her husband Richard, brother Fred Koester, sisters Barbara Mills & Carol Milewski and nephew Robert Mills, she is survived by her sons, Joseph (Tara) & Brian (Annabelle) and a daughter Kathleen & her husband James, who shared a special relationship with her.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the McCracken Funeral Home on Tuesday August 23, 2022 from 4-8pm.
A committal service for Arlene will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the Rosedale Cemetery., 350 E Linden Ave, Linden, NJ 07036.
