

The family will receive their friends at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J., on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia, N.J.
Born in Newark, N.J., Al enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He raised his family in Union and served as a police officer for the Union Police Department until his retirement in 1982.
In retirement, he moved to Florida and eventually back to Chatham, N.J., where he resided for the remainder of his life, surrounded by his loving family.
Al is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Helen; three children, Karen, Tom and Mary Lou; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He lived 91 years full of life and humor. He loved his family above all and we will miss him dearly. He was an inspiration to us all.
