Alan was born in Newark and grew up in Hillside NJ. His parents were George and Thelma (Allen)Mackey.
Alan graduated from Hillside High School and Bloomfield College with a degree in History. He also received a post baccalaureate degree in Accounting.
Alan was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being with family, watching the Giants football games, historical and classical cinema. He collected Irish and French stamps, loved classical music and attended concerts of the New York Philharmonic for over 20 years. He enjoyed traveling to France and Ireland and vacations with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife Michele (Arnaud), son James Mackey, daughter Maureen Mackey Johnson , son in law Howard Johnson and two grandsons Connor and Liam Johnson.
He is also survived by his brother Doug and sister in law Cheryl Mackey.
A visitation for Alan will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083, with a prayer service to begin at 3:30 PM.
