Adam was born in Poland on October 12, 1930. He immigrated to the United States with his family when he was 8 years old .
Adam’s accomplishments were many: He was the Township Engineer for both Hillside and Irvington and the Director of Public Works in Irvington. He has a Master's Degree from New York University in Civil Engineering and Planning and has been awarded many accolades for his years of hard work including Engineer of the Year. Adam served in the Korean War where he received three Bronze Stars and was honorably discharged. Adam also received a metal of Valor, various medals and letters from the Republic of South Korea, US Department of Defense, and The President of the United States. He also received an Apostolic Blessing plaque for himself, Joan and the family from Pope John Paul prior to his passing.
Adam cared deeply about his community and was respected by all he touched. He was a beacon of light and strength, touching many throughout his career and life. His heart was pure and his commitment to everyone he loved and worked with was unwavering. He will be missed by so many but his memories and soul will be Eternal.
Adam’s family was his greatest pride and joy. He was and still is their pillar of strength and example. His biggest joy was spending time with the love of his life, his beloved wife Joan of 69 years. He loved watching classic movies every day ( John Wayne in particular ) and playing cards, always winning at War and from the corner of his eye making sure there was no cheating. Sitting in his backyard, going for a swim in the pool, barbecues with family and friends and ending the day with a little tune on his harmonica were his perfect ways to spend his days. Family vacations in the Outer Banks of North Carolina were times he always cherished.
Adam is predeceased by his loving parents Walter and Stephanie, sisters Helen Sias and Sophie Koczur.
He is survived by his wife Joan, son Richard, daughter Karen and her longtime partner Michael Antoniewicz, daughter Lorie and husband Michael Baranowski, his beloved grandchildren Michael Baranowski and his wife Linda, granddaughter Kristina ( Baranowski ) Bridgers and her husband Jordan, grandson David Baranowski, and his great grandson Atlas Michael Bridgers, the newest and most precious light in his life, sister Diane ( Samiec ) Tedesco and her husband Sam, nephew Jeff Sias and his wife Linda and niece Michelle ( Sias ) Delaney and her husband Steven.
A visitation for Adam W. will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 971 Suburban Rd, Union, NJ 07083. A graveside service will occur Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Saint Gertrude Cemetery & Mausoleum, 53 Inman Ave, Woodbridge Township, NJ 07067.
