JoAnn Cicchine (nee Shannon), 78, lifelong resident of Jersey City, NJ, passed away on Thursday December 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Jersey City on March 23, 1944, to the late Daniel & Bridget Shannon. JoAnn was known to light up every room with her infectious smile and laugh. An unbelievable storyteller, who did not miss a detail when sharing her memories. So much so, that everyone who had the privilege of hearing them would never forget them. She was a doting grandmother who truly looked at all her grandchildren as “grandma’s little angels”. JoAnn worked for over 33 years at Stevens Institute of Technology where she thoroughly enjoyed meeting and mentoring many students throughout her tenure.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 57 years, Samuel Cicchine, loving children, David & his spouse Patricia Cicchine, Darin Cicchine, Danielle & her spouse Jason Murray. Cherished grandmother of Samantha, Dina & Nicholas Cicchine, Ana, James & Ryan Murray, great grandmother of Sophia & Bentley Murray. Adored godmother of Michael Cicchine & Erica Carrington. JoAnn is predeceased by her grandparents, Larry and Josephine May (nee Fussilli) and godparents, Jerry May & Frances Tardo Mittendorf.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Diane Cicchine, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
JoAnn’s Life Celebration will include visiting on Tuesday, December 13, from 3 ~ 8 PM at the Leber Funeral Home, 2000 Kennedy Blvd, Union City, N.J. A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday December 14, beginning at 10:30 AM at St. Ann’s R.C.C. 3545 J.F.K. Blvd Jersey City N.J. 07307. Friends and family may begin gathering at 9:30 Wednesday morning before services at the Funeral Home. JoAnn will be laid to rest at George Washington Memorial Park 234 Paramus Rd. Paramus, N.J. 07652.
